Homag & IMA Merger

In October, Homag & IMA merged into a public limited company operate with the same corporate profile under the umbrella of Lignum Technology AG based in Schoploch near Freudenstadt. "An international technology partner to the woodworking industry, the new company will be offering a whole new dimension of woodworking machine-related intelligence," said Klaus Bukenberger, board spokesman for Homag, now performing the same function at Lignum Technology AG. "The performance spectrum will range from engineering and consultancy, through the manufacture of high-tech machinery and complex plants, to software and e-commerce."

The consolidated group operating under the Lignum Technology AG umbrella encompasses 13 producing companies, 15 sales companies, an engineering firm, financing firm, and six companies operating in the field of software and consultancy belonging to Schuler Solutions AG. Within the scope of a clear-cut dual brand name strategy operating in over 50 countries around the world, Lignum Technology AG is a comprehensive system supplier and technology partner employing over 4,000, and a competitive leading player in global markets. Sales growth of 15% is expected for 1999.  

Hymmen Group Announces Surface Finishing Corporate Merger

A new company has been formed among four leading companies in the surface finishing market. They will effectively hone future profit margins in Ostwestfalen-Lippe for lacquering, transport and curing technology. Major players in the deal include Hymmen, Blelefeld, Rippert, Herzebrock-Clarholz, Venjakob, Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Kraft Group and Rietenberg-Mastholte. The companies plan to merge Hymmen Coating GmbH, Blelefeld and the project planning/sales and services departments of Hackemack, GbmH and Detmold into a new corporate entity called Hymmen-Hackemack GmbH. It will be situated in the Lippe area near Blelefeld, Northrhine-Westfalla.

What does this mean for the customer? When Hymmen-Hackemack GmbH goes into business on day one of Y2K, Hymmen Group claims the wood and furniture industry will be able to avoid intersection problems between single line components by purchasing complete surface finishing plants, including air technology and process guiding from one supplier. Of course, individual components will remain available.  

GreCon USA Moves to Expanded Headquarters

Although its phone, fax and e-mail remain the same, GreCon Inc. moves from Beaverton to 15875 SW 74th Avenue in Tigard, Oregon on January 10, 2000. The new 10,000-square-foot-facility will accommodate production and testing areas for GreCon spark detection and extinguishment systems and measuring equipment. "With new technological advances and the increase in market demand, we needed to expand our facilities," said Executive VP Herman Staats of the move. In Tigard, customers will be serviced through on-line upgrades, technical support and troubleshooting. They will be able to participate via modem during testing and inspect the system during final production, though GreCon plans to eventually offer individual training to customers on their own gauges during the testing phase at the new location.  

Gladu Tools Goes South This Winter

Gladu Tools, Inc. of Marieville, Quebec announced the creation of Gladu Tools - Southeast Div., LLC. The new 5,000-square-foot-facility opens to full operation in Statesville, North Carolina during January of 2000 and will employ at least ten people. Southeastern companies will have access to after-sales support in Statesville, where the plant will sharpen and service insert knives, carbide-tipped saws, cutterheads and bits of any brand. Local delivery will be available within a 200 miles radius of Gladu to regional companies.

Panel/Wood and Stiles Expand Partnership

Panel/Wood Machinery of New Jersey is now a dealer of the full product line from Stiles Machinery, Inc., representing equipment from its Holzma - US division and Altendorf America. Altendorf sliding table saws, Brandt edgebanders and Homag España saws are now available.  

Architectural Products Showroom Opens

Outwater Industries has over 35,000 products on display at its new Architectural Products showroom in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey. Included are interior/exterior millwork, columns, hardware, wrought iron, lighting, furniture and cabinet components. These building and remodeling supplies are stocked in a 300,000-square-foot-warehouse and are available for pickup or may be shipped as delivery.  

Company Diversifies into Wood Finishing

You know them as a fifty-five year old company specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of decorative painting, coating and related spraying applications. Previously hindered by a company re-orientation including divisions for display products, electrical controls and automated assembly systems, Thierica Equipment Company is actively soliciting the development of customized wood finishing systems with manufacturers of cabinetry, furniture and architectural/millwork products. With its operations in automotive, plastics and other finishing operations, the firm is capable of developing flat-line, tow line and overhead systems that can include ultra-violet (UV) coating and other finishing techniques. BRIEFINGS: Management changes Komo Machine’s Corporate Restructuring Ahead of Schedule

Denis S. Commette, President of Gusmer Machinery Group, will act as interim president of Komo Machine, as first stages of Komo’s corporate structure transition have completed well ahead of the projected timetable. "We have thoroughly evaluated the impact of the management changes," he said. "We are confident that we have the personnel and infrastructure in place to effectively and efficiently carry out the reorganization and propel Komo into the new millennium as a world leader in CNC routers, metalworking machining centers, factory automation systems and customer service." Operational control of the company has shifted to Robert Kindt, Executive VP of Komo.
