Canplast, producer of premium edgebanding and hotmelt adhesives, has developed a new comprehensive woodgrain stocking program in both thick and thin PVC edgebanding. Over 150 high and low pressure woodgrain laminates have been matched, produced in thin PVC edgebanding, stocked in 15/16” widths and are ready for immediate shipment. Many also are available in 13/8” widths. In addition, matches to over 70 laminate woodgrain surfaces are available in thick 3 mm (.118”) PVC in widths of 15/16” and 15/16”.

Vinyl Acetate Adhesive
Imperial Adhesives has 7709T, a vinyl acetate adhesive designed for immediate bonding of HPS to particleboard, MDF, plywood and wood. It can be roll coated at 6-7 wet mils. The panels can be processed by a variety of methods, according to the company. First, ambient, either dead stacking or pinch rolling and stacking, yields 80% wood tear in thirty minutes. Second, a hot laminating system allows immediate bonding. Last, hot press also gives an immediate bond. 7709T has a lower viscosity, yielding greater flexibility of application so that spraying or roller coating can apply the product, says the company.

Salice America has a new face frame hinge — one piece, all steel construction with two-cam adjustments. Deadbolt Lock
Timberline Lock says it has designed a lock that allows two doors to be locked together without the use of a catch. This double action deadbolt lock is mounted so one cam plate will reach behind the other door while another cam plate rises up into the rail above. Another new feature on all Timberline locks is the snap-in lock plug. There is no longer a need to use a special key to install the plug — simply snap it into the cylinder body with your fingers, says the company.

Change-overs are said to take a fraction of the time when compared to its predecessor. Double Miter Saw

In-Line Fluid Monitor
Graco Inc. says its in-line fluid monitor, the Informer, accurately measures flow rate, batch totals and cumulative totals of material that have passed through a fluid line. The tool provides an easy way to measure paint usage for EPA reporting, monitoring waste and surveying flow rate, according to the company. The Informer also features alarms that signal when flow rate thresholds and batch targets are reached. The monitor features an electronic readout display and Graco’s G3000 meter, although other meters can be used. A software package also is available that allows the Informer to connect to a standard PC to easily generate and print reports.

Miniature Fluorescent Lamp
Edge Inc. Plus has a new miniature fluorescent lamp, which is UL listed. It is completely self contained, allowing for a 20,000 hour or more bulb life under normal conditions. All components, including the power cord, are inside the lamp housing. The lamp can be powered from either side, making for easier installations, says the company. There is a built in on/off switch. The lamp will work from -3° F to 131° F. Up to eight lamps can be connected together.

Industrial Floor Trucks
Associated Machinery’s industrial floor trucks are designed of hardwood construction and fitted with space age phenolic wheels and ball bearing swivel casters for strength and durability, according to the company. Associated Machinery says its phenolic wheels resist shock without chipping and are non-sparking and non-marking. All bearings have grease fittings. Hydraulic Platen Presses
The OTT hydraulic platen presses Model STABIL from Eric Riebling Co., Inc. are prepared for four-sided loading and unloading. The presses are equipped with safety devices, and to insure an absolutely uniform movement of the press table, a rack and pinion guiding system is incorporated into the press. The control panel is conveniently mounted in the upper front section of the press. The press is controlled by automatic pressure regulation via a high-pressure contact manometer and has automatic temperature regulation via thermostats. Sanding Wheels
Bardo Abrasives says its KW Density 220 grit woodworking wheels sand raw MDF super smooth while sealing pores of the board so as not to allow UV and other coatings to be soaked up by MDF. The company says this will reduce the number of coatings needed and that there will not be the raised fibers that are generated by traditional sanding methods. Bardo Abrasives also has impregnated flapwheels, which provide a tough wheel to sand the raised fibers created by hard UV coatings, but are not too aggressive to cut through UV. With the feel of a soft, solid wheel and flexibility of a non-woven abrasive flap brush, these green or red wheels follow profiles well, last a long time and are low cost, according to the company.

Double End Tenoner
The Celaschi TSA double end tenoner and Progess single end tenoner provide one-source development solutions, says Danckaert. The Celaschi tenoners offer anything from sizing, tenoning, profiling, boring, mortising, routing, notching and sanding, to memorized electronic shaping, according to the company. Ducting
NORDFAB Systems says its Quick-Fit clamp-together ducting snaps together — without welds, screws, rivets or precise measurements — in about half the time it takes to install traditional ducting. Mikron Woodworking Machinery has the M645 tilting arbor Multi-Moulder designed to mould circles, arches, ellipses, ovals, compound curves, crown moulding and 0 - 30 feet per minute straight wood or MDF. American Clamping says its Bessey Professional One Hand Edge Clamp features a compound screw mechanism that allows the operator to simultaneously engage the top and bottom pressure pads while applying pressure to the front edge of a countertop. Lacquer System
Sherwin-Williams says its SHER-WOOD® KEM AQUA® Pigmented Lacquer System addresses both stricter air quality mandates and the wood finisher’s desire for greater production efficiency. The system exhibits application and finishing characteristics similar to those of nitrocellulose lacquer systems. Because the KEM AQUA Pigmented Lacquer System cleans up with water, it offers a safer workplace, says the company, and without the hazards of high VOC emission levels of traditional solvent-based systems, the product reduces hazardous waste.
