Edgebanders: It’s important to shop around
Today’s edgebanders come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors — and while most still come from Europe, American companies also have entered this important arena, selling their own versions both domestically and overseas. Computer technology has made its way into edgebander operations and totally integrated machines now are able to interact with the panel saw and the router to provide state-of-the-art panel processing capabilities, including the ability to load up a variety of colors and sizes delivered out of a single edgebander to meet with the appropriate size and color panel coming down the line. So, how do you know which edgebander is the one for you? A manufacturer should consider what functions he wants the machine to perform, what types and thicknesses of edgebanding will be used and how often will he need to set the machine up for different runs. Once that decision has been made, the manufacturer should look for an edgebander to grow into. It doesn’t make sense to invest in an edgebander and then turn around two years later and have to trade it in for a bigger one, industry sources say. On the following pages you will find a wide range of edgebanding products. The sheets are offered both with and without peel and stick adhesive backing in 2’ x 8’ and 4’ x 8’ sheet formats. Real Wood Veneer Edging is manufactured in both finger-jointed and butt-jointed 250’ and 500’ fine sanded, stainable continuous rolls.
