Alexvale Furniture Aquisition by La-Z-Boy Concludes
La-Z-Boy’s acquisition of Alexvale Furniture Company became a "done-deal" on December 28, 1999. Modern Woodworking has learned that Kincaid Furniture is already producing upholstery products for Alexvale as well as Hammary Furniture, another La-Z-Boy company. Boyd Wilson, controller at Kincaid, said, "Kincaid is developing a separate upholstery line to go with Alexvale’s wood line. Maybe down the road we will purchase some new equipment in that regard."
Gerald L. Kiser, president and chief operating officer of La-Z-Boy, said in April when the proposed acquisition was announced, "Alexvale will operate as a division of La-Z-Boy subsidiary Kincaid Furniture. Alexvale will continue to pursue its growth objectives promoting products under the Alexvale brand."
"We could not be more excited about this alliance and are looking forward to assisting Alexvale in continuing its growth while enabling Kincaid to become a full furniture resource," said Kincaid president, Steve Kincaid.
Based in Taylorsville, NC, Alexvale employs 586 workers and operates from four factories in the Catawba Valley of North Carolina. Annual sales for 1999 were around $60 million.
