Book Offers Tips and Tricks for Fixing Things

Atlanta, GA – "The Art of Fixing Things," a new book by Lawrence Pierce, contains 150 tips to repair things, make them last longer and save money.

In the book, the publisher notes, Pierce adds touches of humor within its serious message: Society cannot continue to throw things away when broken, if we ever want to get out of debt.

The book contains 185 black and white photo illustrations, explanations, and easy to follow directions for learning the correct use of hand and power tools, doing repairs and avoiding poor quality goods and tools.

Topics include understanding threads, making tools to repair them, and even techniques for applying grease.

Avoid Injuries and Mess

“If you ever wondered how to avoid over tightening a screw, or bolt, this book will tell you,” according to book promotional literature. “If a screw is stripped, there is a strategy to remove it. It even contains a trick to avoid making a mess when painting. Hardware is made simple. Advice is given on avoiding injuries.”

Pierce is a retired Vancouver, BC litigation lawyer who spent the last 55 years fixing things. He learned the basics from his father, who grew up during the 1930's in York, NE, where he was raised by his grand-father, also a do-it-yourselfer.

"The Art of Fixing Things" is priced at $12.95 and available at Amazon.com, ISBN 978-1466296336. www.theartoffixingthings.com
