Affinity Tool Acquires HTC and Portamate

January 26, 2012 — Affinity Tool Works, Troy, MI, has acquired tool and accessory manufacturer HTC Products Inc. and its Portamate business unit. The deal was effective January 14, 2012.
The move allows Affinity to broaden its line of tools and accessories, specifically targeted to niche markets including building and construction, do-it-yourself, remodeling and woodworking.
Affinity representatives said service to customers would be uninterrupted, with all key aspects of dealer and customer service operations transferred to Affinity in the early weeks of the acquisition.
Continuing the Legacy
“The team at Affinity Tool Works is well-versed in the inner-workings of distribution channels for the markets served by HTC and Portamate,” Mike Ursell, president of Affinity Tool Works, said. “We’re confident in our ability to continue the legacy and uphold the reputation of quality products and outstanding service synonymous with HTC.”
Ursell spent 10 years as HTC’s director of sales and marketing where his duties included relationships with dealers and other partners, strategic planning and management.
Variety of Products and Services
Since 1980, HTC has provided products for both home and professional worksites in a variety of industries including building and construction, do-it-yourself and woodworking. Its product line includes mobile bases and roller supports, along with workshop accessories.
Portamate products were created specifically for do-it-yourself and home improvement enthusiasts. In addition to its PM7000 Miter Saw Work Center, the Portamate line includes a variety of work stands, saw horses, tables, rollers and mobile bases.
