Awards Competition Includes Furniture Design
By Mike Botta
February 9, 2012 – A New York-based online design service is inviting furniture designers, students and others to enter its second annual awards competition.
The program, sponsored by the Core77 Design Network, features 17 categories ranging from established fields to new emerging practices. Of those, 15 categories offer separate entry fields for professionals and students.
Core77 describes itself as an international web-based community for designers and design enthusiasts seeking trends, information, resources and opportunities. Users practice in multiple disciplines, with a concentration on industrial design, design management, graphic design and interactive design, according to the service.
Entrants are invited to upload videos to accompany their submissions, providing personal testimony about their entries to an international jury.
Judging the Entries
The judging process combines global perspectives with local expertise. For each category, lead judges were selected from 8 countries and invited to choose their own jury pools from among experts in their fields. The results are expected to be broadcast live via the Internet, according to Core77.
In addition to recognition, winners in each category will be awarded a trophy created by the New York design studio Rich Brilliant Willing.
Among the Categories …
Categories of potential interest to Modern Woodworking readers include:
---Furniture and lighting products or systems for private, public, commercial or industrial use. Examples include home or public seating, office systems, lighting, street lighting and workstations.
--- Spatial design as it relates to physical interiors, exhibitions of installations, either permanent or temporary, and to any context (private, commercial, public or institutional). Examples include public installations, restaurant/hospitality interiors, office or medical interiors, set designs, retail displays, exhibition booths, etc.
--- Equipment and systems designed for public, commercial, industrial, medical and scientific use. Examples include machinery, construction tools, medical instruments and devices, transaction kiosks and weather instruments.
---Graphic design, branding and structural designs related to the packaging of products. Examples include primary or secondary packaging for Fast Moving Consumer Goods or premium brands, promotional packaging and gifting programs, and limited editions.
--- Any do-it-yourself (DIY) personal project that is self directed, self-produced and self-funded. DIY implies that the entrant came up with the idea and saw it through to fruition using do-it-yourself know-how, whether it’s the modification of an existing system or artifact or the creation of something new. Examples include hacks, mods, recycles, upcycles, crafts, digital fabs, etc. (Note: There are no professional or student distinctions in this category, according to the group. Special reduced entry fee applies.)
Core 77 is offering a 20-percent discount for early birds who enter the contest by March 13. Final deadline is April 10.
Entry fees, as listed on the Core77 Design Awards website, are: $120 for professionals; $40 for pro bono professionals, and $40 for do-it-yourselfers and students. (Click here for full entry details).

The very crux of your writing while appearing agreeable in the beginning, did not sit very well with me after some time. Someplace within the sentences you managed to make me a believer but just for a short while. I however have got a problem with your leaps in logic and you might do nicely to help fill in those breaks. In the event you actually can accomplish that, I will definitely end up being impressed. jkzot phlebotomy training fort worth texas bicoi xccmu tucson phlebotomy training rgarf abzsy phlebotomy schools in kissimmee fl doyqp cbpgr phlebotomy training gladstone dnvxz eeflx phlebotomy training burlington vermont acnel

This is a great book, that will help you learn how to tune up your woodworking machines. It is written with wit and some very dry (Wisconsin) humor. The entire book is very readable and informative on woodworking in general, and on tuning woodworking machines in particular.I read the whole book, and used the information on tuning the table saw in great depth. I was able to take an old Taiwanese table saw that had serviceable tolerances, and tune it to maximum performance. Initially, I concentrated on measuring the run-out of the arbor to decide whether the machine was worth keeping at all. It was. A year later, after moving, I went back to this reference and found a problem with the trunion alignment. In so doing, I also found and fixed a potentially dangerous problem with the blade raising mechanism. Once identified, it was easily fixed, but I wouldn’t have had the courage to look without the confidence inspired by the author’s careful treatment. He made the process seem simple, and encouraged patience and perseverance in approaching the tune-up task. All of this was very necessary in the case of my old saw.The best sections, in my opinion, are the table saw and band saw, but he covers a number of machines, including the router, shaper, and jointer. car insurance auto insurance quotes
I really loved this book. My girls wanted furniture for their dolls, but Pleasant Company Products were out of my budget. Using this book, my daughters and I were able to create the simple pieces. My older daughter designed a bedroom suite. We painted it blue with a cascade of morning glories. Flower painting is not one of my talents, so we used rub ons from the craft store. The bed was easy to build, the armoire was challenging. We turned the chest over to Grandpa to finish. I was beyond my skills. My younger daughter wanted a dining room suite for her tea parties. The table and chairs were fine, but once again we requested Grandpa’s assistance to turn an armoire into a china hutch. We painted the furniture a lovely yellow with sunflower transfers. Both of my girls love it.In closing, the beds, tables, and chairs were fine for a beginner. If you are attempting any of the case-goods, you might need a grandpa too. I don’t have a lot of tools. My local store (the orange one) cut the wood to size for me, so we just needed to assemble it, sand it, etc. The first cut was free, and there was a nominal charge for the other cuts. The sweet gentleman who helped us liked the book. He is a grandpa, and is going to buy the book too.I wish the case-good projects were a little easier. I also wish there were simple patterns for bed coverings and chair pillows. I am an experienced seamstress, but others may benefit from this in the next edition. viagra propecia results

(UK answerers wanted, but i guess others could chip in).Lou i can see your angle and have considered that myself.Wea ll have to prove our assumptions in a laboratory, BUT scientists can speculate wildly and tell us they are right and we are stupid !! lol.
