Laguna Tools has packed the features of much larger machines into its compact 37 in. Pro Wide-Belt Sander. The 37 in. Pro Wide-Belt Sander balances precision, quality and production speed via a combination of features. The sander does away with a limited number of fixed speeds and allows a variable feed speed, thanks to a dedicated motor, with wide latitude of 12 to 60 ft per minute. In addition, an ampere meter allows operators to determine the load of the sanding operation. Load monitoring allows operators to adjust the platen height and feed speed for consistent results as well as extend belt life. These features in combination allow much more control over the sanding of a broad variety of materials. In addition to the fine adjustment controls, the wide-belt sander oscillates laterally as it works. This eliminates the classic streaks, which often must be hand sanded out, left from worn belts, saving production time and improving results. This also allows belts to be used much longer and reduces production costs. Belts slide over a low-friction graphite platen as opposed to the typical steel type.
